Identification and damage

These are small aphids (2-3 mm) of greenish-yellowish or greenish color; they colonize the leaves, especially on the lower page, and the shoots from the beginning of the vegetative restart.
The damage is determined both by the trophic activity and by the abundant honeydew that smears all the vegetation and any furnishings, placed in the under-arch of the gardens and parks. The damage is almost never very serious, in dwelling plants; in nurseries, on the other hand, in the event of strong attacks, there is damage, even serious, due to the necrosis and deformation of the young shoots which lead to irregular growth or loss of the cimal.

Biological cycle

These are basically monoecious aphids that reach the maximum of infestation from the end of spring to the beginning of summer.


The struggle follows the same criteria expressed for the Aphids of the Maple to which we refer. These aphids, especially in natural environments, are controlled by numerous natural enemies, especially from mid-May onwards; remember the Coccinellid beetles, the hoverflies and cecidomidae, the chrysopid neuroptera, the aphidid hymenoptera, etc.
